“Strengthening the Cooperation between Public Sector and CSOs and Volunteerism Processes in Turkey”, Civil Society Sector Consultation Meeting held on 17 October 2019 in Ankara with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Director for EU Affairs, Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey, Ambassador Christian Berger, United Nations, UN Turkey Officer in Charge Alvaro Rodriguez, Acting Director General for Relations with Civil Society Erkan Kılıç and Ministry of Interior and Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Halis Yunus Ersöz.
Deputy Minister Faruk Kaymakcı inaugurated the meeting and assessed Turkey and the European Union relations with an online survey.
Head of Delegation of the European Union to Turkey; Ambassador Christian Berger underlined the importance of the volunteerism based activities for the EU emphasizing its significant role on strengthening civil society sector.
UN Turkey Officer in Charge Alvaro Rodriguez gave information on volunteerism activities of UN worldwide and in Turkey during the opening speech of Volunteerism Workshop. And Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Halis Yunus Ersöz has taken attention to the rising volunteerism movement in Turkey.
Lejla Šehić from European Volunteer Center, Belgium has given information on “Volunteerism in EU, Regulations, Best Practices”.
“Volunteerism in Turkey” has been discussed under the moderation of UN Volunteers Country Coordinator Nil Memişoğlu by Mustafa Murat Özçelebi, Coordinator of Civil Society Sector at Directorate for EU Affairs, Belgin Ergül, Representative of National Volunteerism Committee, T. Başak Ersen General Secretary of Third Sector Foundation, Ümran Dilek Toprak Ministry of Youth and Sports, Youth and Sports Expert and Ömer Aykul, Tema Legal Advisor.
At the “Volunteerism Workshop” held in “World Cafe” format hosted high number of participants from civil society organisations nationwide Turkey, suggestions and ideas have been shared on awareness raising on volunteerism concept, dissemination of volunteerism and developing cooperation between public sector and civil society organisations. The workshop was moderated by Ayça Bulut Bican and Mert Altıntaş.
